Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona has chosen Resolution EBS’s Centrifuge business rules management platform as part of a plan to automate and streamline its current business practices.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona “is always looking for ways to increase customer satisfaction and reduce administrative costs,” Christopher L. Matthieu, director of eBusiness Technologies for the insurer, said. “We believe that the Centrifuge business rules platform from Resolution EBS will help us achieve these goals,” he said.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona plans to initially use Centrifuge to consolidate and optimize its Individual, Small and Large Group rating and underwriting processes.
More Efficiency
Centrifuge is designed to increase operations and staff efficiency by enabling complex business practices to be automated and integrated within its current business environment.
Centrifuge lets the business user or analyst — the subject matter expert — easily define and maintain the proper business rules within their scope.
Resolution EBS explained that that means greater efficiency is achieved because there is much less cross-training and inter-departmental dependencies between business users and IT staff members. Business users get to focus on the integrity of the business process, while the IT staff focuses on application integration and infrastructure deployment issues, the company said.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and is the only major nonprofit and local health insurance company in Arizona.
