Styleclick.com Adds Fashion To iVillage

The competition is fierce among leading online women’s networks with major players like iVillage (Nasdaq: IVIL), Oxygen and Women.com battling for eyeballs and dollars. iVillage just added a little more ammo.

Monday, e-commerce fashion site Styleclick.com (Nasdaq: IBUY) announced that it has signed a deal with iVillage to host a co-branded shopping area. Under the terms of the deal, Styleclick.com, which offers women’s and men’s fashions and personal shopping, will integrate its content directly into iVillage’s existing shopping infrastructure.

“It has been reported that 70 million women will be online by the year 2000,” said Joyce Freedman, Styleclick.com’s chairman and co-CEO. “As such, women are the most valuable, sought-after demographic on the Internet. Women control the majority of household finances, are extremely brand-loyal, and make the majority of all purchasing decisions.”

Styleclick.com will be featured as one of five permanent positions on the front page of iVillage’s shopping area. The fashion site will also be promoted in iVillage’s topic-specific newsletters, which are sent to 7.7 million readers each week. In addition, Styleclick.com will conduct a sweepstakes promotion on iVillage’s network that will be developed and executed by iVillage. Styleclick.com will provide the prizes.

iVillage Offers Millions of Potential Customers

iVillage bills itself as “the most visited site for women ages 25-54, with more than 90 million page views per month and 1.6 million registered users.” The network is attempting to build community by offering interaction, peer support and online access to experts in 16 channels.

iVillage’s content channels include Parent Soup, Better Health, Money Life, Career, Work from Home, Relationships, Fitness & Beauty, Click: Where Computers Make Sense, Pets, Travel, Parents Place, Food, Book Club and Astrology. iVillage also operates the iBaby and iMaternity channels.

Styleclick.com Adds Syndication

Styleclick.com bills itself as the first e-commerce site to provide image-by-image comparisons by category. This allows consumers to compare related products by visually comparing the look of items, and not just the price.

The company recently announced its syndication program, which it says is the first of its kind. Styleclick.com is now licensing some of its fashion content to third parties. Styleclick.com will now offer its syndication services through iVillage’s network of sites.

“Our alliance with Styleclick.com Inc. is an exciting way to enhance e-commerce solutions we offer the 5.5 million people who visit iVillage.com each month,” said Allison Abraham, chief operating officer for iVillage.
