E-Commerce Times Talkback

See Full StoryBefore long, business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce may become a misnomer, because
opportunities for online innovation and value creation reside more within multipartner
collaboration than in transaction processing, analysts say. The prospect of "automating
the entire purchasing process seems dim in the near future," Jupiter Media Metrix analyst
Jon Gibs told the E-Commerce Times. "Automating the supply chain after the deal is made
is more likely."

Mr. Vigoroso hit the nail on the head! The savings from automating a transaction are minuscule compared to the value of improving inter / intra-enterprise business processes. Unfortunately, getting all parties to agree that one, there is a problem and two, something can be done about it, appear to be the greatest barriers. Too bad we can’t use the same hammer on their disconnected heads!
