Do you know what your people are working on? Do you know why your project is late? Do you know if you are getting the ROI you need? You may not realize it, but what you don't know can hurt you and your organization. You might be planning projects that your resources cannot accommodate, or spending too much money through labor hours to bring in the right profit. You might be putting valuable resources on a project that is not that important to the organization while neglecting a project that is crucial. You just don't know unless you have a bird's eye view of everything.

Good Read! We've learned similar lessons too.

Curt, very good article. You struck a chord with me through your views on successful project management. We at Severa are in the business of providing a professional services automation tool and have learned similar lessons from our 5 years of operations. Our recent customer survey indicated that over 90% of our customers have significantly lowered project failures through our software. Why? Same reasons as you indicated in your article. I think with Today's tougher economic challenges, it’s more important than ever to curb waste and improve performance. And just like you, that's what we are also trying to do at www.severa.com.
